  • Researcher Suggests Human Body Can Produce It's Own Aspirine: UK researcher Gwendolyn Baxter and his colleagues could prove in the blood of testpersons a low concentration of salicylic acid - the active compound of aspirine when digested - though these persons did not take in aspirine previously. The concentration in the blood of vegetarian testpersons was even almost as high as in persons who took a aspirine pill before. Like further investigations revealed, salicylic acid was not solely taken in by diet, it was produced by the body itself. The researcher team states: "It is, we suspect, increasingly likely that SA is a biopharmaceuti cal with a central, broadly defensive role in animals as well as plants". Salicylic acid is maybe the first of a new group of bioregulators.
